Feeling disconnected? Lost in a large church? Want to enjoy the company of other Christians and perhaps “bump into Jesus”? A Parish Cell is a group of 5 or more individuals coming together to share life experiences, connect with others, and discover where God is present in their daily lives through listening to others, scripture and prayer. Parish Evangelizing Cells make Church smaller, but more importantly, empower its members to serve the church and the surrounding communities in which we live.
Parish Evangelizing Cells
A cell group is not a program, or even a ministry…it is more a ‘way of parish life’. Cell groups are small groups that evangelize the parish from within, bringing the light of Christ to its members. Gathering in a comfortable setting, a facilitator guides the group. Usually the upcoming Sunday Scriptures are read. Each person reflects on the message and is encouraged to share how a word, phrase or idea speaks to them in a personal way. As members connect their own life and faith stories to the Scripture, they truly discover God more richly present in their lives. Groups also read and reflect on spiritual teachings provided by our parish priests. Again the concepts presented help to connect faith and life. The meetings run by a specific agenda for approximately 90 minutes.
What’s in a name?
